Title: Senior Director of Teens

Position: Full Time, Exempt

Established in 1944, Boys & Girls Clubs of Silicon Valley (BGCSV) is dedicated to uplifting the lives of underprivileged Santa Clara County youth aged 6-18 and beyond. In addition to being a safe haven that fosters positive relationships and belonging, we collaborate closely with school officials to offer a diverse range of afterschool and summer enrichment programs, teaching approximately 7,000 members with 38 clubhouse locations spanning San Jose, Morgan Hill, Gilroy, Hollister, and more. Our mission is to bridge the gap for low-income youth and amplify pathways to success within historically underserved communities by focusing towards fostering scholastic achievement. As an autonomous 501(c)(3) entity, affiliated with Boys & Girls Clubs of America, BGCSV operates under the stewardship of a local Board of Directors. This dedicated team is entrusted with the responsibility of overseeing our programs and funding, ensuring our continued impact on the lives Silicon Valley Youth.

Responsibilities

Leadership and Innovation

  • Create a culture of learning, safety, and belonging that drives great outcomes for BGCSV teen participants
  • Oversee all BGCSV teen programs and staff leaders
  • Collaborate with the Chief Program Officer to embed the teen program in the overall BGCSV program pathway
  • Conduct a comprehensive analysis of BGCSV teen program effectiveness, make changes as needed, and share the metrics to measure and our regular progress
  • Lead goal setting, reflection, and continuous learning across teen programs and sites based on annual objectives and key results
  • Measure and communicate program impact
  • Adapt teen programs to meet community needs and optimize student recruitment and retention
  • Develop marketing tool to share findings with other constituents, such as the Chief Development Officer

Management

  • Provide staff with timely and actionable data that leads to better outcomes
  • Report progress toward program goals quarterly to the Chief Program Officer
  • Instill high expectations and accountability for all teen staff
  • Coach teen staff to implement quality programs, engage in continuous learning, and achieve goals
  • Lead professional development and training for teen program staff

Pay

The pay range for this role is $110-$115K. Compensation will be determined based on permissible factors such as transferable skills, work experience, and market demands. The compensation range provided is subject to change and may be modified in the future. BGCSV is growing and a promotion is possible in the near future, based on employee success.

Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Four-year degree in related field from an accredited college or university, relevant graduate degree strongly preferred
  • A minimum of ten (10) years in an academic environment at an organization(s) outside of Boys and Girls Clubs
  • Past experience with building teen programs at an organization(s) outside of Boys and Girls Clubs
  • Deep personal commitment to helping low-income youth succeed in school
  • Passionate about BGCSV’s vision and mission

  • Ambitious, positive and takes initiative
  • Experience building, implementing, and scaling programs for low-income youth with a history of achieving results
  • Experience managing multiple sites and programs

  • Comfortable with fluid work environments; resilient
  • Great organization, tracking, and follow-through
  • Self-manager, successful with minimal oversight
  • Comfortable working with donors and school districts
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Bilingual: ability to speak, read, write, and understand English and Spanish fluently
  • Clear DOJ background check
