Postdoctoral Associate, Cancer Biology

Job Description

POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE, CANCER BIOLOGY, Program in Media Arts and Sciences-Nano-Cybernetic Biotrek (NCB), to fill an opening in Professor Deblina Sarkar’s research group at MIT for a postdoctoral associate with experience studying the molecular mechanisms underlying cancer development, progression, and post-treatment profiling, with a particular emphasis on the analysis of various genome sequencing data for cancer both in vitro and in vivo models. Background in brain tumor or glioblastoma is preferred but not required. Will study the effect of novel therapeutics for cancer both in vitro and in vivo cancer models; conduct in-depth analysis of RNA, DNA, whole-genome, and single-cell sequencing data; develop and apply advanced bioinformatics and computational biology techniques to interrogate complex sequencing datasets; validate the functional significance of identified molecular targets and pathways; contribute to research manuscripts, grant proposals, and presentations; and mentor/train junior researchers.

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED:  Ph.D. in cancer biology, molecular biology, bioinformatics, bioengineering, neuroscience, materials science, electrical/electronics engineering, or another relevant field; experience creating orthotopic and heterotopic PDX cancer mouse models; and experience studying the effect of therapeutics (chemotherapy/immunotherapy/radiation, etc.) for cancer both in vitro and in vivo transcriptome and proteome, including stemness, invasiveness, migration, autophagy, tumor-promoting inflation, cancer immunity, and related cancer pathways. PREFERRED: expertise integrating and interpreting multi-omics data (e.g., genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics); and experience with PDX models, neuro-oncology, immune engineering, cancer stem cells/neural progenitors, neurospheres or organoids or other 3D cultures, the study of electric field in tumors, recording electrical/ionic signaling from cells; experience in drug delivery, statistical analysis, genetic manipulation (cell line engineering, GEVIs, etc.), and single cell sequencing and spatial transcriptomics.  Job #23979
