JOB SUMMARY:

Provide sexual & reproductive health care services to a broad-based population with supervision by the Associate Medical Director. Provide skilled client care in the clinical setting including gynecological exams, screening and treatment of STIs, pregnancy options counseling, contraceptive advice and prescriptions, gender affirming hormone therapy, prenatal care, evaluation and management of early pregnancy complications, hypertension management, smoking cessation counseling, follow-up patient consultations, and evaluation of other medical conditions as per health center guidelines and client needs. Provide abortion care services including medication abortion, patient counseling and provision of all forms of birth control, and occasional assistance with moderate sedation and recovery area supervision. Provide direct client services according to PPDE Medical Protocols in accordance with PPFA Medical Standards and Guidelines.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Perform medical screening procedures as appropriate for PPDE clients.

Perform physical examinations for sexual & reproductive health conditions as per Planned Parenthood Medical Standards and Guidelines

Refer clients with abnormal conditions found on examination to Associate Medical Director, Medical Director and/or other providers or medical facilities as needed per health center guidelines and/or client needs.

Order and interpret routine laboratory tests.

Responsible for the development of follow-up plans of abnormal pap smears, positive STI tests or other abnormal lab tests, and tasking to the centralized follow-up staff.

Perform medical referrals as indicated and ensure appropriate follow-up plan created.

Maintain productivity expectations, with expected patient load of 3-4 patients scheduled per hour, and compliance standards of the health center.

Maintain a close working relationship with Associate Medical Director, Medical Director, VP of Operations, Health Center Managers, and other licensed staff of the agency.

Participate in in-service training, volunteer training and community education as assigned by Associate Medical Director

Initiate problem solving in coordination with Health Center Manager to ensure smooth health center flow.

Serve as a telephone resource person for client or medical information calls.

Accurately document all abnormal findings, referrals, follow-up plans, and prescriptions in the electronic medical record.

Work independently to maintain up-to-date knowledge in the health care field via attending seminars and workshops, and reading relevant material.

Provide skilled LARC services for patients requiring such services.

Participate in monitoring of quality and risk management activities, including audits and training, to ensure delivery of quality health care in compliance with PPDE Medical Standards and Guidelines, PPDE policies and procedures and State and Federal regulatory requirements.

Promote a spirit of teamwork and professionalism among all staff.

Understand procedures at all health center sites and cover unexpected clinician absences at other sites up to twice per month.

Act as the clinical leader of the health center and in conjunction with the HCA Training Coordinator aid in proctoring and sign off of newly hired non-licensed clinical staff for clinical duties.

Provide on-call coverage after hours as assigned and during clinic as needed.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Medical Services Management Team.

QUALIFICATIONS: To be successful, an individual must perform each essential function satisfactorily and demonstrate a constructive relationship with the Health Center Manager. Education and/or Experience

Graduate of an accredited nursing program / physician assistant program with Delaware state-mandated certifications / licensure.

Current Delaware license as an advanced practice registered nurse/physician assistant with prescriptive privileges, DE Controlled Substance Registration, and DEA license required.

Minimum of zero to two years’ experience as an advanced practice nurse/physician assistant, with experience and broad knowledge of family planning. Experience within a family planning clinical setting preferred.

National Certification or a current Medicare/Medicaid number.

Professional, positive attitude with proven ability to contribute effectively to highly functioning work teams.

Physical Demands: All of the position functions listed within this position description involve to greater and lesser degrees the following physical demands: close vision; hearing/listening; clear speech; walking; lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds; stooping; kneeling; bending; sitting; standing; and use of hands to finger, handle, and feel during examinations and using equipment. The physical demands are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.

Works in a cost-effective and flexible manner, multi-tasks, works effectively under pressure due to conflicting demands, and manages a minimum of three to four patients per hour.

Based at a home clinic site with travel to other sites expected for patient care and training.

Performs agency duties at various sites, so a valid driver license or otherwise ability to provide own reliable transportation is required.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
