Job Description:
An enthusiastic, student-learning-centered approach to teaching is required. Teaching responsibilities include developing and teaching various levels of undergraduate and graduate Business courses. The faculty member will be an important contributor to the Bethany interdisciplinary core curriculum. Other responsibilities include student advising and mentoring, active participation in student recruitment, participation in Departmental and campus committees, collecting data, and working on assessment.
This position is in the Business Department. The Business Department provides majors in accounting, business economics, management, marketing, finance, international management, sports management, and minors in entrepreneurship and computer applications. The courses in this position are required and support courses for the majors. The primary responsibilities are to teach a variety of courses in management and marketing. Courses taught include Principles of Management, E-Commerce Management, Business Communication, Marketing, and miscellaneous general business supporting courses. The position will include involvement in the department lecture series, Career Conference, and Business Club. Student advising, on-campus recruiting activities, and service on various committee assignments are required activities in this position.
The faculty will support the Bethany College Mission and is expected to contribute to the interdisciplinary core curriculum.
Job Requirements:
MS in Business, Business Education, or MBA is required; Ph.D. preferred but
ABD will be considered. Teaching experience at the college level is expected.
- Highly motivated and works well both independently and in a team environment.
- Regular attendance is required.
- Functional knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Willingness to adapt to a changing technology environment.
- Competent in email and document management.
- Hold all class sessions according to the established schedule, dates, and times.
- Develop and distribute an approved syllabus that fulfills the course requirements.
- Select instructional materials such as textbooks and course-related materials.
- Maintain current, accurate records of course enrollment, grades, and attendance.
- Observe and evaluate student performance in meeting course objectives and learning outcomes through assignments, facilitating students in designing lessons, presentations, discussions, classroom field experiences, projects, and appropriate assessments.
- Assign and provide feedback for in- and out-of-class work; monitor student progress.
- Maintain a commitment to the preparation of culturally responsive, professional teachers.
- Evaluate and select instructional materials.
- Perform related duties as assigned, including communicating with the division chair.
