Lecturer in Computer Science

Job Description

Operating Title

Lecturer in Computer Science

Campus Location

Durham

Department

UNH CEPS Computer Science

Summary of Position

The Department of Computer Science of the University of New Hampshire (UNH) continues to grow. We invite applications for a full-time, benefits-eligible, non-tenure-track, teaching-focused Lecturer position to begin August 18, 2025. We are especially seeking candidates with interests and demonstrated abilities in the areas of information technology, human-computer interaction, graphics, cybersecurity, computer science theory, and programming fundamentals. Candidates must have at least an M.S. degree in Computer Science or a closely related field. Industry experience is a plus but not required.
A typical teaching load consists of three courses in each of the fall and spring semesters. The primary expectation is that classes will be offered in person on the Durham campus, but remote teaching can be an option in some cases. Lecturers also have the option to teach during the summer for additional compensation. Summer classes are often offered online. In addition to teaching, lecturers fully participate in the academic life of the department: advising, hiring, and curricular development. Lecturers have voting rights in the department and the college. UNH supports professional growth and provides paths for promotion to the ranks of Senior and Principal Lecturer.
UNH is a land-, sea-, and space-grant university and serves as the flagship public research institution of the state of New Hampshire. It is located in the vibrant Seacoast area of the state, with easy access to both Boston and the White Mountains. The cities of Portsmouth and Dover are nearby.
The Department of Computer Science currently has 10 tenure-track faculty, 10 lecturers, 432 undergraduates, 26 M.S. students, and 30 Ph.D. students. Major areas of research include Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Robotics, Cybersecurity, Information Retrieval, Natural Language Processing, Systems, and Networking. The UNH Interoperability Laboratory offers software and hardware testing services to a wide variety of industrial partners. The department also has connections to the Olson Center for Advanced Manufacturing and the Center for Coastal and Ocean Mapping.

Please submit a cover letter, brief statement of teaching experience and interests, complete CV, and contact information for three professional references at https://jobs.usnh.edu/postings/62643. References will be contacted at the time of application.
