The purpose of Campus Health (CH) is to provide appropriate, affordable, accessible and high quality primary health care to eligible students, and provide a comprehensive disease-prevention and health promotion program in the NC State University community. The major function of the SHS is that of providing outpatient care to the 34,000+ NC State students. Some level of medical care is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week during the academic year beginning in August and ending in May.
Hours of service vary during the summer and during holidays and student breaks.

Essential Job Duties

This position provides technical assistance to the Radiology Department at Campus Health. The individual serving in this position will act as the patient care and diagnostic technician for the department, providing internal customer service, technical assistance, data collection, and patient care. The position also requires cross training in phlebotomy (training provided) to assist laboratory in high demand times.

Primary job duties:
  • Interact with internal staff, patients, and referring providers through e-mail, phone, and personal communications.
  • Keep equipment clean and in working order.
  • Responsible for maintaining equipment and quality control.
  • Attend scheduled meetings, drills and training.
  • Performs technical procedures including patient positioning for radiographs and digital image capturing.
  • Provide excellent patient care by applying full knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and disease processes.
  • Provide quick and accurate information regarding each patient, acting as a liaison between clinicians and radiologists.
  • Proficient in entering data into the electronic health record.
  • Maintain a clean working environment to ensure Infectious Diseases standards are followed and infection is not spread.
  • Handle medical/biological and infectious waste appropriately.
  • Follow all radiation safety, OSHA, and Environmental Health and Safety standard.

Other Responsibilities

  • Participate in fire and emergency preparedness drills.
  • Must report to work during Adverse Weather and related scenarios and for public health emergencies.
  • May be required to work beyond scheduled hours.

Minimum Experience/Education

High school diploma or equivalency and two years of experience in medical diagnostics; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Some positions may require additional training, certifications, or licenses.

Other Required Qualifications

  • Experience with Electronic Health Records software.
  • Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds occasionally, with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Skilled in the use of radiology equipment and in the performance of procedures.
  • General knowledge of the basic pathophysiological processes being monitored and how radiologic science is applied.
  • Ability to work beyond scheduled work hours when needed.
  • Ability to work independently and practice good judgment to ensure high quality care.
  • Ability to perform specialized orthopedic procedures such as weight bearing lower extremities.
  • Ability to perform phlebotomy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Skilled in the use of radiology equipment and in the performance of procedures

Required License or Certification

  • CPR certification.
  • ARRT certification.
