Job Summary

The Survey Research Center (SRC) at the Institute for Social Research (ISR) is an international leader in interdisciplinary social science research involving the collection and analysis of data, especially data from scientific sample surveys.  SRC conducts some of the most widely cited and influential studies in the world.

The Data Science for Dynamic Intervention Decision Making Center (d3c), a program within SRC, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Managing Director to oversee the development, execution, and management of our digital adaptive intervention projects. The candidate will be responsible for coordinating content development and ensuring the integrity of data collection and analysis. Additionally, they will provide support to users and clients, respond to research information requests, participate in outreach activities, manage data agreements, and oversee grant writing and dissemination efforts. Key operational duties will include team management, regulatory compliance, budget oversight, and strategic planning. The ideal candidate will hold a Master's Degree in a relevant field (Doctoral degree preferred), have at least eight years of managerial experience, and possess a deep understanding of human subject regulations and data sharing policies. Exceptional communication, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to a diverse and inclusive workplace are essential. Familiarity with NIH grant mechanisms and experience in managing a large research center will be advantageous. This role offers a dynamic and collaborative environment for a proactive leader eager to contribute to cutting-edge research.

d3c is an interdisciplinary collective of data scientists developing the methods scientists need to design adaptive interventions that improve outcomes for everyone. The successful candidate for this position will manage operations for the center, whose research portfolio includes multiple sources with an annual budget of more than $3.5 million from federal and institutional sources. This position requires working actively with faculty investigators, center staff, trainees and students.

Work Locations

You'll work on-site at the University of Michigan, Institute of Social Research, Survey Research Center in Ann Arbor.  We offer flexibility for hybrid work within our overall Center guidelines.
